Privacy & Cookies

Fib Fact is designed to collect as little as possible. This page explains what we use, why, how long we keep it, and your choices.

Who we are

This website, fibfact.com, is run by Fib Fact (“we”, “us”). For anything about your information, contact us at core@warp.co.il.

The short version

  • You don’t need an account, and we don’t ask for your e-mail address to play.
  • The game itself doesn’t set cookies.
  • Online games store the name you type and your answers only while the game is running, then delete them automatically.
  • If we show adverts, the ad provider may use cookies, and where the law requires it, only with your consent.

What we collect and why

Playing on one device

Nothing you type is sent to us. Names, scores and answers stay on your device. To pick questions, your browser asks our server for a random set, which doesn’t involve any personal information.

Playing online

To run a game between several devices, our server stores:

  • the name or nickname you enter, so other players can see who’s playing;
  • the game code, your answers, your score and when you last connected;
  • a random player token that identifies your device in that one game. It isn’t linked to who you are.

All of this is deleted automatically once a game has had no activity for six hours, normally within seven hours of your last game. Your name is visible only to the other players in your game. Please use a nickname rather than your full name if you prefer.

Preventing abuse

To stop automated misuse, we count how many games are created or joined from each connection. For this we store a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address with a counter, which expires after one hour.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time. These are used to keep the site secure and working, and are kept only for a limited period set by the host.

Contacting us

If you e-mail us, we use your e-mail address and message only to reply and to deal with what you’ve asked, for example fixing a question. We keep the correspondence only as long as needed for that.

Storage on your device

The game uses your browser’s own storage (not cookies) for convenience. None of it is used for advertising or tracking:

NameTypeWhat it’s forHow long
fibfact-nameLocal storageRemembers the name you last used onlineUntil you clear it
fibfact-localLocal storageRemembers same-device players, names and difficultyUntil you clear it
fibfact-onlineLocal storageRemembers your preferred online difficultyUntil you clear it

These are strictly necessary for the features you ask for, so they don’t need consent. You can remove them at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for fibfact.com.

Cookies

The Fib Fact game doesn’t set cookies. WordPress, which runs this site, sets cookies only for site administrators who log in.

Advertising

To keep Fib Fact free, we may show adverts from a third-party network such as Google AdSense. Ad providers may use cookies or similar technologies to show adverts, limit how often you see them, measure performance and, with your permission, personalise them based on your interests.

Where the law requires it (including in the UK and EU), we’ll ask for your consent before any non-essential advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time from the privacy or cookie settings link on the site. You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and manage personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.

Fonts

Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading the site doesn’t send your information to a font provider.

Our legal reasons

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR), we rely on our legitimate interests to run the game you’ve chosen to play, keep the site secure and reply to messages. We rely on your consent for non-essential advertising cookies. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it to make automated decisions about you.

Who else sees it

Other players in your online game see your name, whether you’ve answered, your picks after each reveal and your score. Our hosting provider processes data on our behalf to run the site. If adverts are shown, the ad provider receives the information described above. We’ll only share information beyond this if the law requires it.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, or stop or limit using it, and to object to how we use it. Because online game data is deleted within hours and isn’t linked to your identity, we may not be able to find it, but please ask. Contact us at core@warp.co.il.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Children

Fib Fact is family-friendly and doesn’t ask for personal details. We encourage children to play online using a nickname, and younger children to play with a parent or carer.

Changes to this page

If we change how we use information, for example by adding new features, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
